This September, we're mobilizing:
It's understandable to feel overwhelmed right now. But it is possible to regain your focus.
How? When you focus on meeting your town's needs, you're making the biggest impact you can have: Changing the lives of people who live right down the road in a very real way.
Your town Democratic team is one way to take action. These local groups are powered by people like you: We want to focus on making our hometown an even better place to live for you and your neighbors.
Will you join us?
We're small groups of families, friends, and neighbors in towns across Franklin County. We believe it's never been more critical to strengthen the civic and social roots of our communities. Why? It helps our hometowns become even more fair and supportive places for more of our neighbors. Fairness, dignity, and respect are the Democratic values that guide us.
🗽 Essential civic work
Every town relies on its team to fulfill essential civic work. Teams are responsible for. . .
Providing the governor with recommendations for town appointees.
Nominating public officials, such as town Justices of the Peace.
Representing your town in party presidential primaries and conventions.
Participating in state and local elections.
🏡 Offer direct local help
Teams lend a hand wherever they're needed. Things like:
Volunteering at the food shelf to feed hungry families.
Keeping common areas (e.g. parks, roads, cemeteries) trash-free.
Organizing a coat drive to keep neighbors warm in the winter.
🤝 Grow your community
Building relationships with others is important. Doing things like:
Throwing a neighborhood barbecue.
Hosting a forum to discuss an important local issue.
Showing local pride by marching in the town parade.
Expect to do 3-4 activities, spending 30-40 hours together per year.
Team leaders and supporters all help as best they can.
Work together with other town teams at the county level.
Yes — if you're a registered town voter and haven't joined another team (or "town committee") this year.
Each of the major political parties in Vermont form these teams in September every two years.
So you're interested in actively making an impact in your hometown? Great! Here are your next steps:
